Welcome to the Bear Den

Den Number 8

Third Grade
      or 8-9 Yrs

Den Leader
Katie Simoneaux
Our Goals   In the Bear Den, there are four general achievement groups: God, Country, Family, and Self. There are 120 achievement tasks and your Bear Cub must earn a certain number of achievements in each of the four groups to earn his Bear Badge.  This is the year your son will grow in amazing ways. After earning their Bear Badge, the scout may earn arrow points by completing additional achievement tasks.

Summary Much of the advancement for the Bear rank is done by the scout with his family outside of the den.  The parent signs off in the scout's handbook and the Den Leader records the advancements from the handbook in our tracking Software.  The Bear program relies heavily on family involvement, but you will see this gradually change with the scout doing more with his den and more individual direction as he graduates to Webelos.

Ready to join? Then you probably have some questions. Email the Den Leader at the link above and leave your phone number and we will get back with you as soon as possible.

What the Bears are "Doing"...

  • Keep up with Den News
The pack127.com calendar can be added into your own Google Calendar.  From there, you can set up notifications/reminders for events at the Pack and Den levels.  It's very helpful!

Our Den also uses the Remind App to send out quick reminders and announcements. Very similar to Group Texting.  To subscribe to these, go to this link: https://www.remind.com/join/874d7

  • Welcome Wolves!

    Hello Wolf Den,

I’ve probably met most of you already, but just in case I haven’t, my name is Jon Hendrix, Sailor’s dad, and I’m stepping in as the new Wolf Den Leader.  I think we’ll have a great year.  My first task is to write this REALLY LONG email to y’all to sketch out what the upcoming year could look like.

Cub Scouting is a great program.  I’ve seen that through my 2 older boys and their friends who started out as Cub Scouts and are now Boys Scouts in Troop 127.  Each year as the boys advance and mature, the Scouting program gets a little more challenging and interesting.  If you’re able to stick with it through the years, then you’ll see unique opportunities for growth in outdoor skills, leadership, civic duty, and overall maturity.

This year the boys will be doing several campouts, a hike, a community service project they decide on and have to present to the pack leadership, and finally a visit to a place of worship.  I’ll involve some of the Boy Scouts in our den meetings so that you and your boys will see where they’re headed.

We’ll hold our den meetings on the 1st Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm at the Wimberley Community Center, Blanco Room.  Occasionally we’ll meet elsewhere, depending on the activity. "Class B" dress is fine (i.e. Pack T-shirt if you have one).

Pack 127 meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30pm, St Mary's Catholic church. "Class A" dress is required (i.e. Cub Scout uniform).

Best way to reach me: Call/text 512-484-8581 c

    Email: den10.pack127wimberley@gmail.com, jon.hendrix@cirrus.com

    My wife Joyce: 512-964-0545 c, 512-847-7205 h, jjfshendrix@gmail.com

Thank you for reading to the end!  Joyce, Sailor and I are looking forward to this year.  We’re open to suggestions, questions, etc.

  • Welcome New Tiger Cubs!
Another year of scouting means another year of new scouts!  We would like to welcome our new Tiger Cubs to the Pack.  We hope they are as excited as we are!

Our Den Meetings are posted on the calendar (or they will be posted shortly) so keep an eye on the calendar for important dates.  You should also plan to attend the Monthly Pack Meeting where you will meet ALL of our Scouts in grades 1 - 5.  We also present awards and achievements at the Pack Meetings.

Enjoy a great year of Scouting and a great year of fun.  Glad to have you along!
